• Update on Neighborhood Wide Tree Project: (launch Sept, prep for mass planting)
• Neighborhood Cookout and Farmraiser: report on fundraising.

• EKNA delegation to the Kansas City CLI – welcome back

eCycling event – October 20 at the Garden Center (Frankford and Berks Street), 4pm-7pm. Bring your electronic waste to be safety recycled by E-Force instead of sending it to a landfill.

This Saturday (Oct. 1st) is the 3rd Annual Farmraiser / Neighborhood cookout happening at the Emerald Street Park and Emerald Street Urban Farm across the street. Last year over 200 people had a great time- and this year will be even greater. So tell your neighbors and gather your family.

WHAT: 3rd Annual Neighborhood Cookout and Emerald Street Farmraiser featuring…

—Huge BBQ for vegetarians + non-vegetarians, yummy Dominican food from La Esquina and local beverages
—Live Bands (details below)
—Kids Activities and more.

WHEN: Saturday, October 1st : 12pm activities begin, 2pm-5ish food is served.

Holy Moly!!!!! It’s time again for our 3rd Annual FarmRaiser and Neighborhood Cookout !!!! Hosted by Emerald Street Urban Farm & East Kensington Neighbors Association!

2011 will bigger and better than ever!!!! FOOD, RAFFLE, KIDS ACTIVITIES and a HEALTH FAIR with lots of awesome local organizations: Kensington Yoga & Reiki, Breaking Barriers, Patch Adams Clinic, Oxfam, Norris Sq Neighborhood Project and others.

Lots of great music!!! Vinyls w/ Jesse Hale Moore Craig Hendrix Kevin Rigby Voodoo Fix The Honeywatts Johnny Miles & The Waywards Kuf Knotz Andrew Gray TJ Kong & The Atomic Bomb and A Dance Performance by Julia Horn Not to be missed!

Please come out and bring friends & family and celebrate growing local organic food and neighborhood spirit!!! Proceeds will benefit the Emerald Street Urban Farm Project and the Emerald Street Park.

EKNA Community Zoning Meeting
Time: Wednesday, September 14 at 7:00 pm
Location: Coral Street Arts House

On the agenda: 2125 Abigail Street and 2213 Amber Street

2125 Abigail Street: Construction of single-family, three-story house on vacant lot with no garage.

2213 Amber Street: Subdivision of vacant lot into two lots. Construction of single-family, three-story house with no garage on each lot.

The Zoning Committee of the East Kensington Neighbors Association (EKNA) will meet with applicants representing these properties to consider these zoning variances. All neighbors are invited to attend.

This Saturday August 13 – meet at Kensington and Lehigh at 10:00 am
for coffee. Join us for a clean-up of Lehigh Avenue from Kensington to
Frankford Aves! Bring gloves if you have them (we do have gloves if
you don’t).
