East Kensington Neighborhood Association Code of Conduct
Proposed May 15, 2023 | Adopted June 19, 2023
The Code of Conduct (the “Code) summarizes the values, principles, and the practices that guide the conduct of East Kensington Neighborhood Association (the “EKNA”). The code sets out a set of basic principles to guide members regarding the minimum requirements expected of them; however, this Code does not provide a detailed description of all possible scenarios or situations. For the purpose of the Code, “member” refers to both EKNA members and the Board, unless otherwise stated.
Each and every EKNA member is responsible for maintaining an environment that fosters fairness, respect, and integrity; and EKNA policy is to be lawful, highly principled, and socially responsible.
At EKNA general membership meetings and EKNA events, Members shall:
Respect the rights of all people in the neighborhood
Respect the diversity of views present in the neighborhood
Maintain a peaceful environment
Treat members with courtesy and respect
Refrain from negative behaviors such as, but not limited to, yelling, repeated interruptions, unfounded allegations and/or hearsay, disruptions preventing meeting continuation, using threatening language, harassment, discrimination, bullying, threats, and violence
Promote and participate in a safe and secure environment for members, building an atmosphere of trust and respect
Failure to abide by the guidelines addressed in this code may result in a member being deemed no longer in “good standing”, resulting in limited membership benefits typically afforded to EKNA Members. A person may regain good standing by demonstrating a commitment to the Code during general membership meetings and events.
Determination of membership in good standing will be held by the Executive Officers. In the event of a deadlock, inclusion of the Board of Directors will result in breaking the tie.
By attending EKNA meetings and events, members implicitly agree to adhere to the Code of Conduct.
